Are you Amazon? The answer is probably not. If you were Jeff Bezos, you wouldn’t be here. You would have all the conversions that you need. You would be running the Washington Post, or something like that. However, instead you’re looking at your website and your analytics and wondering why you’re not doing better. You might have realized that the world might not beat a path to your door, but you can’t seem to get them past the door! Maybe it’s time to look at how your site build and tweak these five things.
Make your value statement.
What is it that you do that you want everyone to know about? Do you offer free shipping? Are you open 24 hours? Do you deliver in the local area? What makes you the reason people are going to choose to spend money on your goods or service? Put it right at the top of every page, or in another highly visible position.
It shouldn’t be a game of twenty questions to create an account. First name, last name, email address, password – that’s it. If you are B2B, you can add business name field, and contact the customer when they are approved.
Color, color, color!
Color preferences can be a huge factor in someone deciding to click or move on. Think about the psychology of colors, and what they say about your brand. Use contrast to play up important points and call to action.
Long tail your SEO:
I can’t stress this enough. Your SEO more than ever needs to be local, specific, and to the point. You can’t just be “accountant” any longer. You need to pack more punch into the SEO with descriptions of your who, what, where, and when. So, “accountant Wilton Manors” or “pizza wood fired oven delivery Dania Beach” or “yoga at home personal trainer” – it’s all about the details when it comes to that Google ranking.
Get your navigation right out there!
Look, you have 8.25 seconds of attention span to get that click. Users want to 1) land, 2) click and 3) go. If you use up that 8.25 seconds with a client hunting for your navigation on her phone, she’s gone. Optimize for mobile and get your navigation menu prioritized.
Just tweaking these few things will get you a bounce, but in a lot of cases it’s not enough to get everything turned around.
